The 24th International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Congress is taking place from 15 to 18 April this year and for the first time in its 57 year history it is being held in Sydney, Australia. The Congress, hosted by the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) and the Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ), will be held in the heart of Sydney at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
The theme for this year’s congress is Evolution and Adaptation: the Future of International Arbitration. The Congress will feature high quality programming and prominent international speakers. The Opening and Closing Keynote speakers have recently been announced as The Honourable Justice Dr. Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and the Honourable Thomas F. Bathurst AC, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The programme and all speaker profiles may be viewed on the Congress website.
ICCA's biennial Congress is one of the leading global international arbitration conferences. Attracting leading arbitrators, academics, practitioners, judicial members, and government representatives from all over the world. The Congress gives delegates opportunities to develop and showcase their expertise, as well as helping to expand their networks within the growing ADR field.
To complement the Congress sessions, ICCA 2018 Sydney boasts a vibrant social programme. The Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception will be held at the Sydney Opera House with an exclusive performance from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The Congress Gala Dinner, themed Dinner Under the Southern Stars, will be held in the ICC Grand Ballroom, with an evening of fine dining featuring Australian and New Zealand flavors and local wine producers.
