Maritime Law & Arbitration: A Young Lawyer's Perspective
The KLRCA YPG and its Maritime Arbitration Committee is delighted to present this evening talk on 'Maritime Law & Arbitration: A Young Lawyer's Perspective'.
Most maritime disputes are resolved by arbitration. This is due to the preponderance of arbitration clauses in maritime-related contracts, whether commodity sale contracts, charterparties, bills of lading or salvage agreements.
The aim of this event is to explain to law students the advantages of maritime arbitration in Malaysia. The talk will commence with an introduction to maritime law and arbitration in Malaysia. It will then explain the role of the KLRCA in administering maritime arbitrations in Malaysia. The highlight of the talk will be the discussion on the advantages of the 2017 KLRCA Arbitration Rules for maritime arbitrations. The talk will end with a frank discussion on life as a young maritime practitioner at the Bar.
This talk should be of interest to all law students – whether undergraduates or postgraduates – and those contemplating a career at the Bar. Final year undergraduates and those sitting for qualifying exams in particular, should be interested in the discussions on life as a disputes lawyer and the pros and cons of specialisation at the Bar.
For registration, please email your details to events@klrca.org.
Admission is free.
