Screening of The Quiet Triumph: How Arbitration Changed the World
Join us this 26th September 2017 as we bring you the screening of, 'The Quiet Triumph - How Arbitration Changed the World.' This documentary tells the story of international arbitration, with events in Sweden in the foreground. It features interviews with central players who experienced the ground-breaking developments first hand, and whose skills and integrity contributed to making the world a better place.
There will be a pre-event workshop on essay writing organised by KLRCA's Young Practitioners Group (YPG) for its members and university students interested in ADR. (2.00pm - 4.00pm)
Official programming for the screening begins at 4.30pm as follows:
4.30 pm – 4.45 pm Opening Speech by Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo, Director of KLRCA
4.45 pm – 4.50 pm Official Launch of the Documentary by Ms. Andrina Sukna, Representative of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC)
4.50 pm – 5.10 pm Session 1 “Development of Arbitration in Malaysia: Then and Now”. This session is aimed to cover the historical development of arbitration in Malaysia: how it all started and was developing; challenges/problems; change of approach to the arbitration by the disputing parties (preference of arbitration to litigation); Malaysia as a leading arbitration jurisdiction in the ASEAN region; current status and glimpse into the future. This session will also cover landmark disputes resolved through arbitration.

5.10 pm – 5.30 pm Session 2 “The Role of KLRCA”. The last session will be about the driving force of KLRCA in the arbitration industry, and all the big projects the Centre deals with: e.g., improvement of Rules and procedures, legislative initiatives, encouragement of students and young practitioners.
