The KLRCA and the Malaysia Inner Temple Alumni Association jointly presents an evening talk titled, 'The Anatomy of a Case: A Study of a Clinical Negligence Action.'

David Pittaway QC will speak about high value clinical negligence actions in the English jurisdiction including the application of the Civil Procedure Rules, issues which arise on breach of duty, on causation, and on the assessment of damages, including the payment of periodical payments and the recent change in the discount rate for calculating multipliers. He will refer to a trial in which he appeared, involving findings of liability against the general practitioner and the hospital, and the subsequent settlement of the claim for damages. He will discuss early neutral evaluation and mediation. 

Joining David on a panel discussion right after, are Dr Milton Lum representing the Malaysia Medical Council and Raja Eileen Soraya representing the Medico Legal Society of Malaysia.
