The Great Sports Debate
"3 Arbitrators, An Athlete, A National Futsal Federation & A Doping Violation"
There has been a spate of doping cases in major global and regional sports events in recent years. Recognizing the importance and need to bring about and increase awareness on this topic, the AIAC is organizing a Sports Arbitration Moot viz. “The Great Sports Debate” on 21st September 2018.
The moot shall emulate the dispute resolution mechanism, namely, arbitration, adopted by the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland in the resolution of sporting disputes including but not limited to doping. The moot problem is premised upon a doping violation upon which an infringement notice has been issued by a sports federation to a futsal athlete. The sports arbitration moot will be presided by a three-member panel of prominent arbitrators including sports arbitrator, Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan and Deputy Chairperson of the FIFA Adjudicatory Chamber, Datuk Professor Sundra Rajoo.
